March, 2015 The European Legal Network Summit 2015 in London
Ruskova and Partners law firm attended the European Legal Network Summit between the 11th and the 13th of March, 2015, where lawyers from around Europe gathered in London to unpick the key elements in forging successful referral relationships for cross-border work. The summit examined all aspects of the referral relationship and debated the advantages and disadvantages of models including bespoke alliances, membership networks and “best friends”. Split across two days, the event brought together the entire legal ecosystem of international and independent firms, formal networks and in-house counsel from across Europe.

– “The practicalities of managing a successful cross-border working relationship in emerging markets”
With the increase in multinational and multijurisdictional projects, this panel discussed the how best to overcome these issues and ensure a winning project. Identification of the critical barriers to an effective partnership. Where do most working relationships hit a roadblock? How much do cultural differences affect success with increase globalization and broken down international borders?
– “The effectiveness of a network in generating new referral work”
How much work can be really referred? What are the guarantees for quality work? Can and are referrals between firms being successfully tracked? How is the success being measured?
– “Where are today’s In-House Counsels’ seeing expansion and growth opportunities?”
Examining what In-House really want and expect from their partner firm. The tender process-why price is not the only deciding factor.
The summit was followed on Thursday night (12 March) by The Lawyer European Awards 2015, where the first-ever European Referral Firm of the Year was named from a very competitive shortlist.
